I followed your instructions, and although I got a warning at the second step -to the effect that I had not informed bzr of my Launchpad ID - kazam installed anyway.
Unfortunately though, when I try to save a recording, or to edit it (either with kazam itself or openshot), I cannot.
I am running CrunchBang debian, and it occurs to me that I may be coming up against Gnome-dependencies.
